My name is Alex Armitage and I am currently a digital marketing communications student at St. Lawrence College in Kingston, Ontario. I also work part-time at Morley Law Office as an administrative assistant where I have been employed for the past five years.

I graduated first from Queen’s University with a BA in Religious Studies. It was here that I was able to explore my love of people, their beliefs and different cultures around the world. While extremely interesting, I knew religious studies wouldn’t directly correlate to a career after post-secondary. Luckily, I was fortunate enough in my last year to travel to the United Kingdom to complete an intensive international health and disability summer program. It was here that I took my first communications course and realized that there were other fields of study that could fulfill my desire to understand and engage with the human experience.

Determined to further this spark, I went on to attend St. Lawrence College in hopes of gaining more insight into my career potential. It was here that I completed a business certificate and am now studying Interactive Marketing Communications. SLC was able to provide me with the hard skills necessary to move into the professional world while also fostering invaluable connections with amazing professors and clients I have been fortunate enough to work with throughout my program.

Being a full-time student has not discouraged me from holding a multitude of seemingly random yet uniquely beneficial jobs over the years. From a full-service gas station attendant (rain or sleet!) to an insurance agent (an industry the public is generally thrilled with...), a houseboat cleaner (a generally enjoyable job until you get into the tiny 3x3ft bathrooms in 35 degree heat) to a nanny of four (let’s be honest... nanny, chef, homework helper, personal chauffer, maid, nap time wrangler and professional mediator). I pride myself on hard work and relentless follow through regardless of the task at hand. As a people pleaser with a little bit of a perfectionist streak, customer satisfaction and organization skills are at the top of my (very detailed) list of priorities for the workplace.

An avid reader from a young age, I have always loved connecting with people hearing the stories that make up their lives. I am a history channel nerd and a self-proclaimed Potterhead. I get invested quickly, whether that is in those around me or a new show on Netflix (‘The Ted Bundy Tapes’ at the moment). I am currently in the process of figuring out my next move in this vast world of amazing opportunities, and I am dedicated to continuously evolving both personally and professionally.
